SLOTRACING

with this page i will give you some startup information about slotracing in general. slotracing itself was introduced as a child toy in the 1950s by an american toy company called aurora.

This company invented the first h0 scale electrical motor driven cars as well as the plastic track with the typical slot for each lane which was used to guide the cars.

This new toy was an instant success with the kids and auroras star was rising fast. Later aurora should become one of the largest toy manufacturers in the USA. The first generation of cars was called the vibrators. these cars were not very fast and very loud when driven. These cars were soon followed by the next generation called thunderjets. these cars came in 1962 and stayed in auroras programm for nearly 10 years. They were really fast cars and it was fun to drive them.

the car bodies were absolutly terrific and that is the reason why a single h0 scale aurora thunderjet can cost way over 100 $ if you are lucky enough to find one. They are highly collectable (some cars are on a regular basis auctioned at ebay if you want to take a look) and by now rare items.

the thunderjet was so terrific in performance that the design was copied by the german toy company faller.

faller used to produce plastic model kits for decorating h0 scale railways and saw the new electric cars also as a pure decorative tool for scale railways. it took them some years to recognize the fun it was when racing these cars on a speed track.

the next improved  aurora slotcars the so called afx were no longer copied by faller but instead they imported them to germany and sold them together with their own track.

This is where my story starts. you probably ask yourself why should someone like to play with an old slotcar toy when there are so many better things like the latest computer games.

this is anwered easily i got hooked instantly because the cars and the track are extremly eyecatching and beautyful and when you start racing them (after cleaning of the dust of decades) it makes so much fun that you canīt stop.

When i told people about my new hobby they were all smiling from above and told me that my behavior is extremly child like but guess what the same people raced for hours and hours with the cars and track when they saw it for real the first time.

I own two different kind of slotracing systems, a 1:60 h0 scale faller track on which I race aurora cars build from 1968-1980 as well as the latest Tyco race cars you can buy in every toy store.

the other race track is a 1:32 scale ninco racetrack on which i race the ninco cars as well as the super tuned up parma pse flexi cars which are absolutely terrific.
